Makes a bold, graceful statement! Let this lidded bowl speak for itself as a sculptural piece on its own while it houses your cherished treasures. Each bowl is slightly different, embracing wabi-sabi, the Japanese aesthetic that celebrates imperfection.
A unique 6th anniversary gift (iron anniversary), 11th anniversary gift (steel anniversary), wedding gift or housewarming gift.
Our Wabi Sabi Lidded Bowl is created out of mild steel (contains iron) that has been heated in the forge and hammered into shape on the anvil by Ruben Irons, Artist Blacksmith in the back woods of Nova Scotia, Canada. Unique marks of character speak to the ancient craft of blacksmithing and the subtleties of the particular piece of metal. The bowl has a raw beeswax finish to preserve the industrial steel grey color.
Each is one-of-a-kind with overall measurements remaining similar. With its lid on, this bowl sits approximately 4" tall from base of bowl to top of knob. It measures approximately 6" across. The flattened bowl bottom is about 2.5" in diameter, allowing for a stable base. The bowl is made out of 1/4" plate with the lid hammered out of 1/8" plate. The piece weighs approximately 3 lbs.
If you would like your lid personalized as seen in some of the example photos, select the "Number of Characters" that fits your text and type your desired engraving into the "personalization for engraving" box above. We use 1/4" tall numbers and capital letters. "/", "-", "&", "+", "." and a heart shape are also options. Have your bowl personalized with initials, a date,"6 YRS", GPS coordinates or any combination of text. The text will line one of the edges of the inside of the bowl as seen in photos, unless you connect to specify another desired location.
Not food safe. To preserve beeswax finish, avoid moisture.
